What is concierge medicine, or direct primary care?
The focus is always on helping you achieve your health goals.
Diabetes is a disorder of metabolism — This is the way our bodies use digested food for growth and energy. Before confirming your diagnosis we would have a through stream of testing to confirm diagnosis. There are three main types of diabetes: type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes that each consist of different testing methods. Common symptoms you may feel are feeling very thirsty, feeling very hungry – even though you are eating, extreme fatigue, blurry vision, cuts/bruises that are slow to heal, weight loss – even though you are eating more (type 1), tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands/feet (type 2) or urinating often as your family physician we would keep a close watch over your blood sugar levels (and keeping them at a goal set) with a combination of medications, exercise, and diet. By paying close attention to what and when you eat, will help to minimize or avoid the rapidly changing blood sugar levels, which can require quick changes in medication dosages, especially insulin.
High blood pressure is also known as hypertension. Blood pressure is the amount of force exerted against the walls of the arteries as blood flows through them. Causes can very between your Age, Family history, Temperature, Ethnic background, Obesity and overweight, Some aspects of gender, Physical inactivity, Smoking, Alcohol intake, High salt intake, High fat diet, Mental stress, Diabetes, Psoriasis, or even Pregnancy. However, once blood pressure reaches about 180/110 mmHg, it is considered a medical emergency known as a hypertensive crisis. At this stage, symptoms will show, including headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, blurred or double vision, nosebleeds, palpitations, or irregular or forceful beating of the heart, breathlessness. Anybody who experiences these symptoms should see their doctor immediately. As your family physician we would help to determine the factors and its severity associated risks to develop the best health plan to best fit your needs.
- Heart disease involves the narrowing or blocking of blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke. Other heart conditions, such as those that affect your heart’s muscle, valves or rhythm, also are considered forms of heart disease. Common symptoms are chest pain or discomfort, shortness of breath. There are many sources of confirming diagnosis by performing test such as ECG/EKG, blood test, and many more but my mission as your primary physician is to give you the relief you deserve and get you back to doing what you do best. Treatment could be Antiplatelet, blood thinners, or even Digitalis every patient scenario is different which is why we work with you every step of the way.
Your kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from your blood, which are then excreted in your urine. When chronic kidney disease reaches an advanced stage, dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes and wastes can build up in your body. The most common symptoms of a kidney disease are nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue and weakness, sleep problems, changes in how much you urinate, decreased mental sharpness, muscle twitches and cramps, swelling of feet and ankle, persistent itching, chest pain, if fluid builds up around the lining of the heart, shortness of breath, if fluid builds up in the lungs and high blood pressure (hypertension) that’s difficult to control. Signs and symptoms of kidney disease are often nonspecific, meaning they may not appear until irreversible damage has occurred. Going a head start of this illness is very important to me as your family physician our goal is that you help us to help you by running the test and having the regular doctors visits you need to relieve your symptoms.

- Did you know that one new case of dementia is diagnosed every 4 seconds dementia mostly affects older ones but is not a normal part of aging in fact dementia is a collective term used to describe various symptoms of cognitive decline, such as forgetfulness. It’s a symptom of several underlying diseases and brain disorders not just a single disease in itself. A general term to describe dementia symptoms would be the impairment in memory, communication, and thinking. For instance, difficulty completing familiar tasks, problems communicating, disorientation and personality changes are all early signs of dementia. If you or a family member suffers from these conditions as your family physician we provide direct care and provide aiding to prevent or halt further brain tissue damage. We are here for you during the times that truly matter most.
Chronic pain, which is pain lasting months or years, is much different than your typical sprained ankle or scape on the knee. The pain itself rarely continues to perform any useful function. Chronic pain can be quite disabling, often preventing you from working and enjoying life. It can lead you to feeling isolated, angry, frustrated, and guilty. Many medical conditions or injuries may be the cause of your chronic pain such as from a back injury. Other chronic pain is caused by chronic diseases such as arthritis or cancer. Some people have pain that does not have an identifiable cause. This is not to say that your pain is not real. Whatever the cause, chronic pain is real and it’s time you and your pain be treated like a real person. As your family physician together a range of specialized treatment such as traditional medications to alternative therapies would be customized to fit your needs.
- Osteoarthritis, in general is the most common type of arthritis, it can cause a breakdown of cartilage in joints and occur in almost any joint in the body. It most commonly affects the hips, knees, hands, lower back and neck. While the cause of osteoarthritis is unknown, the following factors such as age, heredity, being overweight, joint injury, nerve injury, repeated overuse of specific joints and lack of physical activity may increase the risk of developing this condition. A diagnosis usually can be made based on specific symptoms such as pain, stiffness in the neck or low back, pain that radiates into the shoulder or down the arm, weakness or numbness in one or both arms, pain or morning stiffness that lasts for about 30 minutes due to inactivity, pain that worsens throughout the day due to activity and your limitation of motion. If you display these symptoms as your family physician we would perform a thorough physical examination including X-ray and any other additional test if needed.
- Hypertension is another name for high blood pressure. It can lead to severe complications and increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood against the walls of the blood vessels. Hypertension is typically blood pressure higher than 130 over 80 millimeters of mercury (mmHg), according to guidelines issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) in November 2017. Did you know if you were to have hypertension you may not even notice any symptoms (known as the “silent killer.”). While undetected, it can cause damage to the cardiovascular system and internal organs, such as the kidneys. Visiting you family physician will not only help to prevent chronic illnesses but also detect any underlying symptoms. Regularly checking your blood pressure is vital, as well as noticing any symptoms of excess sweating, anxiety, sleeping problems, and blushing. However, in most cases, there will be no symptoms at all. Having a physician who knows your medical history and can notice abnormal health changes can help provide the treatment, support and experience that could make all the difference.
Ask for a physical examination from a professional Family Physician, together we will determine the general status of your health. The exam also gives you a chance to talk about any ongoing pain or symptoms that you’re experiencing or any other health concerns that you might have. A physical examination is recommended at least once a year, especially in people over the age of 50. During your personalized 1-hour exam we would check for possible diseases so they can be treated early, identify any issues that may become medical concerns in the future, update necessary immunizations, ensure that you are maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine as well as build a trusting relationship.
